Osinbajo Rubbishes Boko Haram, Storms Maiduguri As 18 From Multiple Bomb Blasts

Nigeria’s Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo was in Maiduguri despite the threat of death occasioned by the onslaughts of Boko Haram.

 

The Pastor and university don turned politician got into the troubled city on Wednesday night, not sooner than 18 persons, including three suicide bombers were killed while 24 others were injured in multiple suicide attacks in some parts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

 

The police said that the attacks were carried out by three female suicide bombers.

The bomber and three others died.

The pastor and university don turned politician was in the ancient city for a one-day official visit, defying the presumed security threat in the state.

His visit was a ploy to declare open the distribution of 30,000 metric tonnes of assorted grains for the Internally Displaced Persons in the North-East.

 

His presidential jet landed at the Maiduguri International Airport at about 12.30pm.

 

Professor Osinbajo was received by the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, members of the state executive council, traditional rulers and politicians.

The city was in a lockdown security wise for the visit of the nation’s number 2 citizen.
