Kwara United have been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of one of their players Saka Azeez on Friday.
According to the club’s spokesman Abdulwaheed Bibire, who confirmed the unfortunate incident, the defender slumped and died during a training session at the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin.
He further explained that the head coach John Obuh was drilling the team in a two-on-two session when the incident occurred.
Bibire added that Azeez did not complain of any pain and even attended an award ceremony prior to the day of his death with his father, Kasali Lasisi, a former Nigerian and African table tennis champion.
Bibire revealed that the remains of Azeez will be buried “according to Islamic rites” on Friday.
