There is a pervading atmosphere of fear at the Presidential Village, Aso Rock, Abuja, Nigeria’s seat of power over the failing health of Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari, Punch reports.
The new anxiety comes barely one month after the President’s return from a medical holiday after staying in London, United Kingdom for 49-days.
One of the reasons for concern was his continual absence from major state functions. He could hardly be seen around the Villa anymore, the newspaper’s online platform stated. That has necessitated him transferring most of his duties to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.
According to the report, Buhari was only seen twice in the last two weeks: on Friday’s during prayer sessions. Both worship services lasted only one hour after which he was said to have returned to his official residence.
The cap the matter, no picture of his recent meetings with his lieutenants and other dignitaries has been released by the Presidency as was the norm.
However, the Office of the President, through the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said Buhari was recuperating, adding that the prayer of all was that he recovered fully soon.
Adesina said, “The President is recovering, and our prayer is that he returns to full heath soon.
“On arrival in the country on March 10, he (Buhari) said he would still travel at a later time. No date was given, but be assured that when it’s time to travel, the country would be told.
“The President is a plain and straightforward person.”
