Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are to divorce after two years of marriage.
The actor and director has started the process with legal documents, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause, TMZ reports. The couple have been together since 2004 and finally got married in 2014.
Jolie has reportedly asked for physical custody of their six children, with Pitt allowed visitation rights. She isn’t asking for spousal support. The date of separation is listed as 15 September.
A legal representative for the actress confirmed she has filed papers to dissolve the marriage.
“This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time,” attorney Robert Offer said in a statement.
TMZ claimed “She is asking the judge to give Pitt visitation. It’s significant…she does not want Brad to have joint physical custody… only joint legal custody.
Sources connected with the couple tell us … Angelina’s decision to file has to do with the way Brad was parenting the children … she was extremely upset with his methods.
We’re told there was no alleged “third person” … her decision to file was solely over Brad’s interaction with their children”.
