The armed men of Rivers State Police Command have taken over possession of the purported venue for the 2016 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Reports reaching E24-7 Magazine as of the time of going to press indicate that the security agency took over the location as early as 4 am on Wednesday.
However, the Force Police Public Relations Officer Donald Awunah told Channels TV on its programme, Sunrise Daily, Wednesday morning, that the Police are going to be neutral.
He also said that his men would also ensure the safety of lives and properties.
“If in the next one hour, another court gives a judgment against our actions we would let the convention hold, “Donald said.
The Police claim it is acting on the court orders delivered on Tuesday by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Abang had ordered that the convention should not hold as it would be contrary for it to take place. The Justice also claimed absolute power over the court in Port Harcourt, asking the convention to hold.
